After a viral image took off recently showing a photo of a computer screen that was alleged to be Goodyear’s zero-tolerance policy on politics but allowing for Black Lives Matter attire, Goodyear is denying that corporate created the specific image seen in the viral stories.
They do indeed, however, pretty much confirm most of what was implied in the image, in a brand new tweet on Goodyear’s official corporate Twitter handle, after putting out an initial statement neither confirming nor denying. Goodyear tweeted an image of their latest statement as can be seen below, captioned:
“Yesterday, Goodyear became the focus of a conversation that created some misconceptions about our policies and our company. Goodyear has always wholeheartedly supported both equality and law enforcement and will continue to do so.”

So what we garnered from the wordy post above was that political campaigning is basically not allowed on Goodyear’s premises for employees, except things that are in the scope of “racial justice and equity issues”. The exact wording was “we ask that associates refrain from workplace expressions in support of political campaigning for any candidate or political party, as well as similar forms of advocacy that fall outside the scope of racial justice and equity issues”.
So this basically says that a “Black Lives Matter” t-shirt is likely allowed, but not a MAGA hat. What the company falls short of doing is realizing that ‘Black Lives Matter’ as an organization goes beyond, (in our opinion) simply advocating for ‘racial justice’, as we’ve seen with many riots and violent looting around the country, as well as the DNC highlighting ‘Black Lives Matter’ at their convention a couple of days ago, making it very political. They didn’t clarify if “All Lives Matter” logos would or would not be banned.
Shortly before the newest official tweet from Goodyear, President Trump tweeted his disgust with Goodyear:
“Don’t buy GOODYEAR TIRES – They announced a BAN ON MAGA HATS. Get better tires for far less! (This is what the Radical Left Democrats do. Two can play the same game, and we have to start playing it now!).” See tweet:

It’s unclear if Goodyear will further address where the image came from that originally went viral, or further clarify their specific rules. The original image can be seen here in this WIBW article.
