This will likely continue to happen around the nation. Recently, a majority Hispanic town in Texas called McAllen flipped red, electing a Republican mayor.
Now, a house rep in the same area is seeing the writing on the wall. Rep Ryan Guillen was elected back in 2002 and took office in 2003. He is seeking re-election for the eighth time. But this time, he’s running as a Republican instead of a Democrat. Texas Governor Greg Abbott welcomed him. Guillen is of Rio Grande City, about an hour from McAllen.
“Welcome to the party of freedom, opportunity & prosperity @RyanGuillen. As Dems move further left, they’re abandoning the people of South Texas & their values. Rep. Guillen’s decision to switch parties is indicative of a shifting landscape in South Texas.”

This comes after Guillen announced:
After much consideration and prayer with my family, I feel that my fiscally conservative, pro-business, and pro-life values are no longer in-step with the Democrat Party of today, and I am proudly running as a Republican to represent House District 31.

Guillen retweeted a tweet by Associated Republicans of Texas:
“The anti-border security, anti-police and anti-oil & gas policies of the left are driving voters away from the Democrat Party in droves. ART looks forward to working with @RyanGuillen to build a strong Republican Party in South Texas.”

McAllen and that region have been the center point of focus with illegal immigration being allowed by leftists and others actually facilitating it. We reported previously:
Clearly, the American people are sick of the open borders, degeneracy, and lawlessness of the left and are speaking out with their voices and ballots. It will take a lot more elections than this one to stop the radical left’s agenda though, in our view.
