We reported last month that CNN chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin had been granted “time off” from the company and suspended from the New Yorker magazine after he exposed himself in a Zoom call between magazine colleagues and WNYC workers.
According to two sources, Toobin was seen masturbating during what was supposed to be a 10-minute “strategy session” among the various role-playing groups and the sources told Vice that it “seemed like Toobin was on a second video call.”
Toobin announced in a tweet that he has “was fired today by the New Yorker after 27 years as a Staff Writer. I will always love the magazine, will miss my colleagues, and will look forward to reading their work.”
After Toobin wrote a book criticizing his father, Donald Trump Jr. responded to the tweet by saying, “I’m just here for the ratio…”

One Twitter user said, “You forgot something” and shared what appeared to be a screen capture of the indecent exposure and the reaction of those on the Zoom call.

Another Twitter user, Mike Shensky, came to Toobin’s defense and said, “Funny how so many of those commenting have never made an embarrassing mistake. Hope things work out for you Jeffrey Toobin — always been a big fan of your writing.”

In a previous statement, Toobin said, “I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my wife, family, friends and co-workers.”
“I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video,” Toobin added.
CNN has apparently not yet made a decision on his employment.
