When asked in a May 1st radio interview if he would support the nominee at tomorrow’s convention, whether it was him or his opponent, Republican and Virginia’s 5th District Congressman Denver Riggleman answered “yes.”
According to an NPR article yesterday, Riggleman claimed that the party convention process is corrupt and that he would not commit to endorsing Bob Good if he’s defeated.
Riggleman further criticized the convention process in a Politico article today, excoriating what he described as “a bizarre Dairy Queen convention” run by “little party bosses or little Stalins” seeking financial gain. Their goal, he said, is to keep the electorate small as possible because his opponent wouldn’t appeal to a larger voter base.
While Riggleman has been giving interviews, Good has been focused on tomorrow’s convention.
In an e-mail to WSET ABC 13, his campaign manager responded to an interview request:
“Thanks for your interest in interviewing Bob. As you may know, Bob has been interviewed extensively over the course of the nomination contest. He will not be taking interviews this week as we prepare for Saturday’s convention. Will be happy to be in touch after Saturday.”
In a May 14th article with CVille Tomorrow, Good said he is a strong supporter of President Trump and America first policies.
Good says he is consistent with Trump’s stances on stopping illegal immigration and managing it “in a way that puts Americans, American jobs and America first.”
“We’ve got to place a greater premium on protecting American jobs, American workers and reducing the number of worker visas to only what is truly needed and doesn’t depress wages or eliminate job opportunities for Americans,” Good said. “The first priority for worker visas has got to be preserving our country, protecting our workers and not providing cheap labor to big corporations.”
