After election integrity stalwart and Trump endorsed Arizona State Senator Wendy Rogers (R) was disavowed by many ‘RINOs’ in the State Senate and censured, many of her former friends decided to take the politically correct road instead of supporting Rogers. Rogers claimed her fellow Republicans turned on her for what amounted to “mean tweets”, comparing herself to former and likely future President Donald Trump.
When the going gets tough, many Republicans buckle, but Rogers has stood strong and stayed the course with her job as a state senator who has produced many successful and conservative bills and ideas since being elected. But to many in both parties, successful legislation takes a second rung to people getting their feelings hurt.
After being redistricted, a former ally and fellow Senator Kelly Townsend turned on Wendy Rogers, deciding to actually run against her instead. Rogers supporters have largely taken issue with this on various different social media outlets.
Wendy Rogers has a large social media presence, but spends a lot of time posting to Telegram, and has a large fan base there. Kelly Townsend is also on Telegram, with a much smaller fan base. She recently mentioned how she had to “turn off the comments section” on her Telegram posts because of spam and bots.
Many who support Rogers wonder if she was worried about Wendy’s fans questioning her running against Rogers though. Today, Townsend announced she was turning on comments again, but would need to spend some time rooting out “bots”. We observed a few potential “spammers” as we were observing the situation independently.
But we noticed far more real people, who appeared to be Wendy Rogers supporters, challenging Townsend with questions. But, almost as soon as any Wendy Rogers supporter posted a question, even if it didn’t include anything that might be considered “controversial”, they were immediately deleted. Perhaps Townsend will once again turn off the comments, or maybe her plan is to block every single pro-Trump pro-Rogers supporter until she creates a bubble of only supporters.
It may take a while to do that though…
Some examples below may not be “safe for work”. Former U.S. Senate Nominee from Delaware Lauren Witzke (R) appears to have even chimed in, comparing her to the John McCain family:
Witzke then challenged Townsend on her own channel accusing her of confusing bots with people who are unhappy with her:
“They aren’t bots, we just all openly reject you, Kelly.
Drop out. That district belongs to Wendy Rogers.”
Many right-wing Americans and Trump supporters are tired of “cancel culture”. They believe that just because something offends the “thought police” or says something controversial doesn’t mean they should be canceled forever.
Townsend may underestimate this and think she can unseat Rogers, and while time will tell, we think it may be hard to overcome Roger’s immense popularity.
