Democrats and media outlets were in an uproar today after Vice President Mike Pence visited the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota without wearing a mask. He explained he’s “tested for the coronavirus on a regular basis” and everyone who is around him “is tested for the Coronavirus.”
Disgraced CBS 60 minutes host Dan Rather shared his opinion of this decision by equating it to breaking the law.
Rather: No person should be above the law, or wearing a mask.

There is currently no law about wearing masks, although instructions on the Mayo Clinic website request that all patients, visitors and personnel bring and wear a face mask to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
Pence said that since he doesn’t have the Coronavirus, he “thought it’d be a good opportunity for me to be here, to be able to speak to these researchers, these incredible health care personnel, and look them in the eye and say thank you.”
The CDC says to wear cloth masks to help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others. A cloth face covering is not intended to protect the wearer. The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators.
Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance.
US House Rep AOC believed it showed that “Pence doesn’t believe in science.” She also admitted that she did not have “VP visits COVID patients without wearing a mask” on her bingo board.
When I warned everyone in *February* that Pence doesn’t believe in science and shouldn’t be in charge of COVID response, I meant it.

But I admit I did not have “VP visits COVID patients without wearing a mask” on my bingo board. https://t.co/LmMM3n0Eng
There is no evidence that he visited a patient infected with the Coronavirus, only that he met with recovered patients who were there to donate plasma.
