Recently, Tucker Carlson excoriated Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) for pushing a bill that went directly against something called qualified immunity for police officers. Tucker said of Braun: “So he sponsored legislation to make it easier for left-wing activist groups to sue and bankrupt individual police officers, and then Mike Braun endorsed ‘Black Lives Matter'”.
Tucker went on to explain that the organization ‘Black Lives Matter’ wants to dismantle the nuclear family. He actually interviewed Braun the day before and went over that some in the video below. It seems like Braun just caved to the rage mob according to Tucker Carlson’s analysis.
Tucker Carlson says that as flawed as the GOP is, they are the only institution to protect non-Democrats, and he is calling for them to do better. Watch the video below:
After being blasted by Tucker, it appears Braun withdrew his initial legislation. WFYI reported on that:
Sen. Mike Braun (R-Ind.) said Thursday he will stop pushing his recent bill to reform qualified immunity protections for police without input from law enforcement. There are questions concerning when those talks happened, despite statements Braun made on Fox News earlier this week.
Braun announced June 23 the Reforming Qualified Immunity Act, which, according to a press release, would remove “misguided protection that has been extended to those who act under the color of the law to illegally deprive citizens of the rights, privileges, and immunities secured by the Constitution and our country’s laws.”
It appears Tucker’s record high ratings have given him some influence with the Republican party, and he is exerting that power. One Washington Examiner reporter and arguably right-leaning publication that has been leaning more and more left lately, disagrees with Tucker using his influence to stop a bill pushing to dismantle qualified immunity.
Brad Polumbo, trashed Tucker Carlson, which may leave many on the right wondering what his agenda is here. He tweeted an article he wrote for the Washington Examiner and captioned it with a call out to Tucker.
I don’t think this is going to go well for him as a “right-leaning” pundit though, considering Tucker’s popularity. Is Polumbo really a Republican or even right-leaning libertarian? It’s a question some of his followers might want to start asking themselves. He tweeted:
Here’s what @TuckerCarlson and other populist conservatives don’t seem to understand. Making special exceptions for police officers at the expense of victims of police abuse isn’t “populist” at all. Read my latest for @NRO:

You can read Palumbo’s link in the tweet above, we won’t post an excerpt from it here. But as you can see, the party seems to be going in two directions. One that caves to the mob, or worse, is what some would call ‘controlled opposition’, and one that is supporting and trying to preserve western civilization which has apparently come under complete siege as we draw closer to the 2020 presidential election.
At the end of Tucker Carlson’s video above he sums it pretty well with one powerful line, regardless of where you stand. “The only political movements that endure are the ones that make their voters stronger”, he said as he calls for Republicans to better represent the people who voted them into office. “Our job is to give them clear instruction about what we want” he went on to say. “They will not lead us, we know that now, we have to lead, and when we do, they will follow”.
