House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) announced last Thursday that he wanted to start enforcing 45-minute time limits on votes, a measure that has historically been tough to enforce.
Hoyer insisted on the floor, “I wanted to announce to every member that I will be recommending that we close votes 45 minutes after they start” and then he banged his fist on the podium in front of him and then said aloud for emphasis, “Bang!”
His announcement came after the House spent more than an hour voting on a dilatory motion to adjourn from House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), which was rejected 199-219, who was protesting a bill the chamber was preparing to vote on.
Today, Greene challenged that attempt with another motion to adjourn, in an attempt to halt more legislation that the Democrats are attempting to push through with little to no Republican support.
“Just another day in the House of Hypocrites, last week @LeaderHoyer declared votes will only last 45 minutes. But 50 minutes into this vote, Republicans had the votes to adjourn and somehow the vote continued,” Greene said in a tweet.

House Rep Thomas Massie (R-KY) backed Greene up in another tweet and said, “I just voted YEA on @RepMTG’s unscheduled motion to adjourn.”
“Some congressmen are upset they had to interrupt their fundraisers this morning to vote on this,” Massie noted and then suggested, “Maybe they shouldn’t have voted to strip her of all committee assignments?”

Maybe they shouldn’t have voted to strip her of all committee assignments?
Last month, for comments she made prior to being elected, the House voted 230-199 in favor of removing Greene from her committee assignments, where she was assigned to serve on the House budget committee and the House education and labor committee.
