Under former President Donald Trump, many sports teams, both college and professional, would take their ball and go home after winning a championship, declining to visit.
With President Joe Biden being approved by popular culture, the tradition of teams visiting again has resumed with the Los Angeles Dodgers visiting to celebrate their 2020 World Series championship.
Biden, however, displayed his lack of sports knowledge when he went to introduce Clayton Kershaw, the ace and star pitcher for the team.
After wishing the team the best of luck the rest of the season, Biden stated, “Now, let’s bring up a three time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Krenshaw-Krayshaw to say a few words and maybe throw a few curveballs.”
Kershaw can be seen laughing as he looks awkwardly at two other players around him who laugh at well as Biden added, “Ok? Come on up man.”
However, Kershaw didn’t mention it as he came up and gave his speech, after which Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were presented Dodgers jerseys.
AFP White House correspondent Sebastian Smith noted, “Biden gets a 46 Dodgers shirt and VP Harris a 49 – a reminder that the US has run through slightly more veeps than presidents”
