NIAID director and chief medical advisor to the president Dr. Anthony Fauci brought up Jan. 6 and laughed in an interview that aired today on CBS’ “Face the Nation” when asked about U.S. Sen Ted Cruz (R-TX) previously suggesting that he should be “prosecuted.”
At an Oct. 27th hearing, Cruz asked Attorney General Merrick Garland, “Is the Department of Justice investigating Dr. Fauci for lying to Congress, and will you appoint a special prosecutor to do so?”
Garland responded, “We don’t comment on criminal investigations or other investigations.”
Cruz shot back at Garland, “Amazingly when it’s the political enemies of the administration, you comment loudly in a memo,” referencing a memo sent out by Garland over “threats of violence” at School Board meetings.
During the interview today, it was pointed out to Fauci that “Senator Cruz told the Attorney General you should be prosecuted.”
“Yeah, I have to laugh at that,” Fauci replied, laughing, “I should be prosecuted, what happened on January 6th senator?”
“Do you think that this is about making you a scapegoat to deflect from President Trump?” Fauci was then asked.
Fauci responded, “Of course, you have to be asleep not to figure that one out.”
Fauci then implied that Republicans are the ones playing politics, despite a recent video that showed Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Andrew Cuomo insisting that they wouldn’t recommend a vaccine that was developed under the Trump administration.
