It seems like the saga that never ends. But alas, we have more news to report on the story of the killing of Ahmaud Arbery and those convicted of it. Travis and Greg McMichael were previously found guilty and sentenced in Brunswick, Georgia, with life sentences given out, and their neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan getting thirty years in prison.
Now, a federal court has issued separate life sentences for the McMichaels and 35 years for William “Roddie” Bryan.
NBC reported in part:
A judge also required that Travis McMichael, 36, Greg McMichael, 66, and William “Roddie” Bryan, 52, serve their sentences in state prison, not federal prison as had been requested by their attorneys.
Before handing down the sentence to Travis McMichael, who fatally shot Arbery in February 2020, U.S. District Judge Lisa Godbey Wood said he had received a fair trial, “the kind of trial that Ahmaud Arbery did not receive before he was shot and killed.”
