U.S. Hosue Rep Ted Lieu (D-CA) came clean today after recently sparring with Elon Musk by admitting that he can say what he wants because of the Constitution.
Lieu made the confession in response to a Twitter user who responded to a quote tweet that he made of a New York Times tweet on alleged forced ROTC classes in high schools.
“I was honored to serve on active duty in the US military. But forcing students to take military classes is wrong and anti-American. We are not an authoritarian country like Russia. Any high school that automatically enrolls students in JROTC must rescind that policy immediately,” Lieu insisted.
The Biden-supporting, “4x vaxxed” Twitter user asked Lieu in response, “Can you guys do something about this Elon Musk guy? The stuff he’s doing is dangerous!”
Lieu admitted, “No, we can’t. We are a free country. @elonmusk can post smart things or stupid things. He can choose to promote cute cat videos over boring Jim Jordan tweets, or not.”
“He can amplify COVID deniers, or not. The Constitution prevents government from regulating speech on Twitter,” Lieu explained.

In a quote tweet of Musk’s Twitter Files part 3, Lieu had said, “.@elonmusk is not stupid, but this faux ‘Twitter files’ stuff is stupid.”
“In 2020, the whole world knew what Trump was tweeting. Media outlets breathlessly covered his tweets,” Lieu continued.
Lieu then suggested that because “Millions and millions of people followed him,” “Claiming Trump was silenced in 2020 is pure gaslighting.”
Musk didn’t waste any time as he shot back, “Hey stop gaslighting me!”

One Twitter user replied, “Ted is hard core involved in all of this. The gaslighting is purposeful.”
“Interesting, how so?” Musk wondered.
The Twitter user told him, “Conservatives wanted to know why many hundreds of narrative and hatred spewing trolls swarm our tweets all at one time. Before you bought Twitter it was much worse. Watch @RepMTG etc on every tweet.”
