Simon Ateba, White House Correspondent for Today News Africa, posted to X about a Business Insider article. Ateba implies that a left wing outlet may be either preparing its readers for or hoping for an assassination of Donald Trump.
It’s important to point out the speculative nature of the X post for sure, but the article’s story is eery to us too, nonetheless. In a slightly related story, we recently wrote about how another left leaning outlet admitted it’s not looking good for Biden’s 2024 race based on polls.
Anyone could see this on the polling average websites, but it’s notable that a left leaning outlet would so blatantly admit it without some sort of shifty narrative. Ateba posted:
“SCARY: Are they really trying to assassinate @realDonaldTrump? Here is the headline in left-wing publication @BusinessInsider today. What is going on?
And for those who think this is a fake story, the news outlet writes, “Former President Donald Trump is far and away the Republican frontrunner heading into the 2024 election.
“He is 77 years old and will be 78 in June.
“If Trump dies while seeking reelection, a few different things could happen, depending on when he dies and how close it is to Election Day.
“There’s no national deadline to file to run for president of the United States. Instead, filing deadlines vary depending on the state and party.
“There are currently eight declared candidates, including Trump, on the GOP side. If Trump were to die before January 1, 2024, there would likely be other Republicans who want to jump into the race.”
My take: Trump is not hospitalized, why focus on his death before the 2024 election? Why speculate about Trump dying? Very strange….”
Time will tell what the election brings next year and no one can say for sure why left leaning outlets continue to publish such sketchy articles. See related:
