Karoline Leavitt Expecting Second Child May 2026

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on December 26, 2025, that she and her husband, Nicholas Riccio, are expecting their second child, a baby girl due in May 2026. The 28-year-old Leavitt, the youngest person to ever hold the position of White House press secretary, shared the joyful news in a heartfelt Instagram post, calling it “the greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for.”

In the post, accompanied by photos of herself posing in front of a Christmas tree and holding an ultrasound image, Leavitt wrote: “The greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for – a baby girl coming in May 2026. My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother. My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth.”

Leavitt also expressed appreciation for the supportive environment in the Trump administration, stating, “I am also extremely grateful to President Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House. 2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!”

The couple’s first child, son Nicholas “Niko” Robert Riccio, was born in July 2024 while Leavitt served as national press secretary for President Trump’s 2024 campaign. Leavitt, who returned to work shortly after giving birth amid the campaign’s intense schedule, has often spoken about balancing her demanding career with motherhood.

A senior White House official confirmed that Leavitt plans to continue in her role as press secretary, making her the first person in U.S. history to serve in the position while pregnant.

Leavitt, a New Hampshire native, met real estate developer Nicholas Riccio during her 2022 congressional campaign. The couple married in early 2025, shortly before President Trump’s second inauguration.

The announcement has been met with widespread congratulations across political circles, highlighting Leavitt’s trailblazing role as a young working mother in one of the most high-profile positions in government.

As the Trump administration prepares for a busy 2026, Leavitt’s growing family adds a personal milestone to what she describes as an exciting year ahead for both the country and her household.
