Rep. Jeff Van Drew (NJ) had a very telling interview this morning on Fox and Friends, telling a few reasons why he left the Democrat party, to become a Republican. He said that one of the important reasons was that, in addition to the “leftward lurch” the Democrats have made and other things, he is not in favor of open borders and Sanctuary cities. He also says he believes in American exceptionalism.
As immigration becomes more and more of a hot button issue, it is possible that we will see more moderate and “blue dog” Democrats do this, because, although some immigration can be good for the US economy and other things, many people believe too much, especially illegal immigration, makes it tough for that many people to assimilate to what is considered as American values and culture, among other things, like taxpayer costs, and crime. Watch the short clip in a tweet video from Media Right News below where Van Drew comments on his stance against open borders, something even some Republicans are afraid to outwardly stand up against:

Later on in the interview when asked if Jeff Van Drew, who has been known to go against President Trump on many things when he was a Democrat, is now going to support him on everything. Jeff Van Drew replied in essence, that he will continue to be his own man, and support things that he supports, and vote against things that he doesn’t. His comments about illegal immigration and his stance against the Trump impeachment though, are telling signs that he may become more friend than foe to the Trump administration.
Jeff Van Drew, who has asked and been granted an endorsement by President Donald Trump, went on later in the interview to talk about a rally that he will be attending today in his home state of New Jersey. Nj1015.com reported about how people were lining up yesterday for what is shaping up to be another monumental Trump rally:
The line has formed early for President Donald Trump’s Tuesday rally at the Wildwoods Convention Center. As of Monday morning, dozens of devoted supporters were lined up amid camping gear and tailgate-style chairs, already rounding a street corner.
While Trump’s campaign continues to accept ticket requests online, only the first 7,500 in line will be allowed inside the center, as that is the venue’s legal capacity.
More than a week ago, Rep. Jeff Van Drew, who will join the president at the rally, said that he was told more than 100,000 ticket requests had been submitted [sic]
Media Right News initially reported on Jeff Van Drew when he first left the Democrats after some in the party, in essence, threatened him with re-election pushback if he decided not to vote for Trump’s impeachment, which he indeed did not. We reported:
U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew (D-NJ), who we have reported on before, has simply had enough. He is done with the Democrats trying to impeach President Trump without any bipartisan support. He will be announcing a switch to the Republican party officially later this week according to the New York Times, who reports: Representative Jeff Van Drew of New Jersey, a moderate Democrat who is among his party’s staunchest opponents of impeaching President Trump, told aides on Saturday that he is planning to switch parties and declare himself a Republican as soon as next week, just as the House is casting its historic votes on articles of impeachment.
