After Massive Backlash for Tweet Kamala Harris Acknowledges Memorial Day but Appears to Miss the Mark

It seems with all the backlash from her ‘Enjoy the long weekend’ tweet, Harris’s first tweet today addressed Memorial day appears to miss the meaning of why we celebrate it. Harris tweeted, “Throughout our history our service men and women have risked everything to defend our freedoms and our country. As we prepare to honor them on Memorial Day, we remember their service and their sacrifice.”

Memorial Day is a day we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country in the military and lost their lives. Veterans Day, celebrated in November, is to honor those who served in our military. This tweet seems to miss the mark on the meaning behind Memorial Day and only goes to further the point of those who have hit the VP so hard.

Kamala Harris decided to kick off her Memorial Day Weekend with a tweet tell everyone to, “Enjoy the long weekend”.

This disrespectful tweet received much backlash and criticism as she is the Vice President of the United States. Judge Jeanine Pirro responded with, “As the proud daughter and granddaughter of 2 vets, I’m disgusted by Kamala’s ignorance about Memorial Day. This clueless woman should never be one step away from the Presidency. @VP watch my Closing Statement tonight and I’ll remind you what this “long weekend” is truly about.”

Country music singer Travis Tritt tweeted, “No matter what Kamala Harris says, #MemorialDayWeekend is much more than just a “long weekend”. Disgusting trivialization of what so many Americans fought and died for.”

President Biden’s tweet about Memorial Day weekend wasn’t any better than Harris’s. Biden tweeted “Stay cool this weekend, folks.” with a picture of himself and a teenage girl at an ice cream store.

We honor those who have fallen during their service to our military this weekend. Take this time to celebrate those who sacrificed it all for you.

With tomorrow being Memorial Day maybe Harris will give it one more shot.
