Antifa Emboldened as Entire Portland Riot Prevention ‘Rapid Response Team’ Resigns After Cop Charged for Excessive Force Against Photographer and Rioter

Post Millenial’s Andy Ngo, who has taken constant attacks from the left and Antifa militants, reports that the PPD “rapid response team” has resigned. This is devastating to the citizens of Oregon, especially of Portland, who mostly want peace. Although this is largely the result of Democrats just getting what they voted for, many Republicans are not able to move and don’t have a voice here.

Mayor Ted Wheeler, who promised to crack down on Antifa after many months of failed attempts to negotiate with them is partially to blame, in our view. But this paints a larger picture of the balkanization of America. People are fleeing cities like Portland and Seattle for Suburbs in states like Idaho and Florida.

It’s hard to say what it will take to dial it back or fix these issues or create peace, but when the mainstream media simply claims Antifa doesn’t exist in the form many say they do, it’s not helping. You must first acknowledge a problem before you can fix it in our view.

If you search Portland, or Ted Wheeler on our website you will find many other sad stories that have lead up to these events, and although we hope things change for the better, we are afraid they are getting worse here. Because it’s not election season, you hear less about riots in the news. But the summer of riots during the peak of Covid-19 let rioters know in big Democrat cities around the nation what they can and can’t get away with.

The Post Millenial reports that Officer Corey Budworth was charged with assault after rioters used Molotov cocktails at police in 2020.

On the night of August 18, 2020, Antifa militants threw a Molotov cocktail into the County Sheriff’s Department Headquarters as the Rapid Response Team struggled to contain the riot.

The Multnomah County DA Mike Schmidt had this to say:

“In this case, we allege that no legal justification existed for Officer Budworth’s deployment of force, and that the deployment of force was legally excessive under the circumstances.”

“My office will continue to do everything we can to ensure justice is done without error or delay and that we make sure our work and practices are rooted in fairness and equity,” Schmidt said.

Ngo tweeted the full story captioned:

“Breaking: Portland Police’s entire rapid response team, the unit tasked with responding to riots, has resigned from their roles after @DAMikeSchmidt announced the prosecution of one of them & Oregon DOJ is investigating another.

The significance of the entire resignation from the Rapid Response Team means there will essentially be no response from Portland Police when a riot breaks out.”

Time will tell if the County reverses course or doubles down on their actions against their own officers.
