“The Squad” member and U.S. House Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) fumed this moring on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” after U.S. Sen Joe Manchin (D-WV) rejected the “Build Back Better Act.”
During her rant, Ocasio-Cortez mistakenly claimed that she represents “As many or more people” as Manchin does.
“It’s a farce in terms of, you know, plain democracy, because I represent more — or just, just as many, or more people than Joe Manchin does, perhaps more,” Ocasio-Cortez declared during her tirade.
As the New York Post noted, West Virginia’s population is 1.79 million, while New York’s 14th Congressional District, which Ocasio-Cortez represents and encompasses parts of the Bronx and Queens, is comprised of about 750,000 people.
It seems amazing that Ocasio-Cortez could make such a gaffe as well because the state currently has three representatives in the House, although it will only be two after redistricting.
Perhaps Ocasio-Cortez has never interacted with the three reps, who are all Republicans, or she believes that being in NYC, that makes her better than them.
All three have been opposed to the “Build Back Better Act” and have be speaking out in support of Manchin’s stance on the bill.
