U.S. House Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) went to bat last night for the “journalists” who were suspended on Twitter.
In a quote tweet of Musk, Ocasio-Cortez told him, “You’re a public figure. An extremely controversial and powerful one.”
“I get feeling unsafe, but descending into abuse of power + erratically banning journalists only increases the intensity around you,” Ocasio-Cortez claimed.
Ocasio-Cortez suggested, “Take a beat and lay off the proto-fascism. Maybe try putting down your phone.”
Ocasio-Cortez wasn’t finished, however, as she continued in a reply, “As someone who has been subject to real + dangerous plots, I do get it.”
“I didn’t have security and have experienced many scary incidents. In fact, many of the right-wing outlets you now elevate published photos of my home, car, etc.,” Ocasio-Cortez insisted.
Ocasio-Cortez then reiterated, “At a certain point you gotta disconnect.”
Not long thereafter, Musk told Ocasio-Cortez in a quote tweet of her first statement, “You first lol.”
Musk had explained why the “journalists” were suspended in the original tweet that Ocasio-Cortez referenced.
“They posted my exact real-time location, basically assassination coordinates, in (obvious) direct violation of Twitter terms of service,” Musk said.
You first lol
