Bail Fund Backed By Woke Celebs Shuts Down Las Vegas Chapter After Being Sued By Victim of Sprung Criminal

A bail fund that is backed by woke celebrities like musician John Legend, actor Danny Glover, and British billionaire Richard Branson has shut down its Las Vegas Chapter after being sued by the victim of a sprung criminal.

Las Vegas waiter Chengyan Wang sued The Bail Project after he was shot eleven times during an attempted robbery, nearly killing him.

Rashawn Gaston-Anderson, was arrested in November 2021 for burglary and theft in Las Vegas and subsequently released after the organization paid his $3,000 bail.

Six days later, Gaston-Anderson opened fire in the Las Vegas restaurant where Wang worked at.

Gaston-Anderson has been sentenced to seven to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of attempted robbery with a deadly weapon and mayhem with the use of a deadly weapon in October.

Wang’s lawyer, Kory Kaplan, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal, ““He’s got scars all over his body. He can’t move his shoulder over a certain height. I don’t know how (the bullets) missed a vital artery.”

Kaplan told the newspaper that The Bail Project never registered as a bail agent with Nevada’s Division of Insurance, as required by state law.

“They’re going around as a bailing agency bailing people out with no or little due diligence,” Kaplan lamented.

The Bail Project still lists over 25 locations on its website, including crime hotspots like Chicago, Illinois, and Los Angeles, California.
