Baltimore, Maryland, a city that has been on the decline with population, while crime and poverty runs rampant in the hands of Democrat rule, is facing another epidemic, lawlessness. This comes as State Attorney Marilyn Mosby, famous for (apparently) botching the Freddie Gray prosecutions resulting in officer charges falling through, now wants to throw nearly 600 warrants out the window. That’s not to say the officers were guilty or not guilty, simply that the city failed to achieve their goal of ‘accountability’ in that instance.
She claims this is because of Coronavirus concerns in the jails, but one could speculate that there is political pressure here in the midst of nationwide riots and looting.

Mosby was quoted as saying:
“COVID-19 in jails is still a major public health threat, and we want to slow the number of people entering the criminal justice system. As prosecutors, we are committed to protecting the safety and wellbeing of everyone in our community.
“We are not prosecuting certain offenses, so logically we do not want people to be held on warrants associated with those offenses. As we have shown in the three months since introducing our new policies, we can balance public health and public safety and this work continues along that path.”
Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby announced Thursday her office has eliminated 586 open warrants, and dismissed the underlying cases. https://t.co/io4ctwnew9

According to WJZ CBS Baltimore, the offenses not being charged right now are:
- CDS (drug) possession
- Paraphernalia possession
- Prostitution
- Trespassing
- Minor traffic offenses
- Open container
- Rogue and vagabond
- Urinating/defecating in public
It’s tough to say if things will be back to normal after the pandemic, or what a new normal will look like. These types of actions often create precedent and give protesters ‘ammo’ to use in other areas to get similar results, as anti-police demonstrators continue across the country.
Many protesters are wearings masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19, as they should be but it begs the question of if the masks embolden peaceful protesters to turn violent with the cover of face masks. That of course is just a speculation. Stay tuned for more possible updates on this shocking turn of events.
