On Thursday at a campaign event in Colorado, a woman showed up to support her second amendment rights. The woman, Lauren Boebert, lambasted O’Rourke in what can be seen in Beto’s own tweet video below, telling him, “hell no” she won’t give up her AR-15s. To his credit, Beto chided his angry mob of supporters for trying to shout her down while she spoke, saying they needed to be respectful and listen to what the woman had to say. This of course by no means meant that he was going to come around to her point of view of course.
After the event where the discussion went viral in videos on social media, Beto O’Rourke hit back against the woman’s ‘logic’ in a tweet he shot off moments ago. He claims that after listening to her, folks would be able to own bazookas and tanks by the woman’s logic. While there may some extreme liberty-loving enthusiasts out there who actually wouldn’t mind owning a bazooka or a tank, this is one outrageous comparison for the Democratic presidential candidate, who is polling in single digits to make.
He tweeted:
“A woman in CO told me “hell no” she won’t give back her AR-15.
I listened, but by her logic: Why shouldn’t you be allowed to have a bazooka or a tank?
These are the conversations Congress shouldn’t be afraid of—because if we’re going to end this epidemic, we need to have them.”
