Out of an abundance of caution with the fact-checkers, it appeared tonight that Joe Biden mistakenly referred to the “Iranian People” when he meant the “Ukrainian People.”
We don’t believe that Vladimir Putin has his sights set on Iran next, as Biden said that Putin would “never gain the hearts and souls of the Iranian people.”
“Putin may circle Kyiv with tanks, but he’ll never gain the hearts and souls of the Iranian people,” Biden declared.
Biden added, “He’ll never extinguish their love of freedom and he’ll never, never weaken the resolve of the free world.”

Conservatives sounded off on the flub:
Jack Posobiac: “Did Biden just say Putin is encircling Kyiv but he’ll never win the heart and soul of the Iranian people?”
