Arizona GOP Senate candidate Blake Masters called on U.S. Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) to resign after he claimed to have been “focused on the border since day one on this job” during last night’s debate.
A clip shared by RNC Research shows Kelly declaring, “I’ve been focused on the border since day one on this job.”
“I’m down there all the time, I was on the phone this week, just you know with [GOP] Mayor [Douglas] Nicholls of Yuma, Sheriff [Mark] Dannels of Cochise County talking about what more we need for border patrol and immigration,” Kelly insisted.
Masters interjected savagely, “That my friends, is called an invasion.
Apparently undeterred, Kelly continued, “We’re working to raise border patrol pay by 18%, I’ve got legislation to do that.”
“I’ve been focused on the border since day one,” Kelly reiterated.
Masters then effectively ended the debate by telling Kelly, “With no great effects because we have a wide-open southern border so if that’s the best you can do, I respectfully request you resign, and let’s get someone in the seat who will actually secure our southern border.”
Kelly attempted to blame the “crisis” on politicians in Washington D.C. while Masters was destroying him.

At another point in the debate, Kelly claimed, “I’ve been strong on border security and I’ve stood up to Democrats when they’re wrong on this issue including the president.”
“When the president decided he was going to do something dumb on this and change the rules, you know, that would create a bigger crisis,” Kelly added, taking a shot at Joe Biden to try to save his own political career.
