BLM Activist and U.S. House Rep Cori Bush Urges Senate to Eliminate the Filibuster to Pass Anti-2A Bills

Black Lives Matter activist and U.S. House Rep Cori Bush (D-MO) issued a tweet today where she urged Democrats in the Senate, who hold the majority by the slimmest of margins, to eliminate the filibuster to pass anti-2A bills that have been passed in the House.

“The House has already passed multiple bills that would help stop mass shootings and gun violence in our communities,” Bush explained in the tweet.

Bush then added that she believes, “All the Senate has to do to save lives is eliminate the filibuster and pass them.”

Anti-gun activist David Hogg, who recently stepped away from his role in the anti-Mike Lindell pillow company that he helped form, tweeted out earlier today his opinion on the filibuster in relation to “gun violence.”

“Ending gun violence is possible- but it’s going to cost millions of more lives if we wait to have a filibuster proof majority,” Hogg opined.

One of California’s U.S. Senators, Alex Padilla, who replaced Vice President Kamala Harris, on Monday tweeted his support for eliminating the filibuster.

“RT if you support eliminating the filibuster,” Padilla urged.

That same day, U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) also expressed her support for eliminating the filibuster as well, tweeting a video where she essentially called it racist.

“The filibuster gives Mitch McConnell a veto over bills the American people support, like the #ForThePeopleAct—which expands voting rights, reforms campaign finance laws, and limits partisan gerrymandering. We need to get rid of the filibuster to keep our democracy,” Warren claimed in her tweet.
