Following Will Smith’s assault of Chris Rock at the Oscars, two BLM-supporting progressive House Reps deleted tweets applauding the move by the actor.
One of the deleted tweets came from U.S. House Rep Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), who is also a member of “The Squad,” and suffers from the same disease that Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith does, alopecia.
Pressley declared in the tweet, “#Alopecia nation stand up! Thank you #WillSmith.”
“Shout out to all the men who defend their wives living with alopecia in the face of daily ignorance & insults,” Pressley continued.
“Women with baldies are for real men only only. Boys need not apply,” Pressley added, along with a picture of her and her husband.

Pressley wasn’t the only one as U.S. House Rep Jamaal Bowman also briefly offered his approval of Smith’s move.
“Teachable Moment: Don’t joke about a Black Woman’s hair,” Bowman insisted in a now-deleted tweet.

Former senior advisor to Kamala Harris and current MSNBC host Symone Sanders had advice for those who reacted to the incident.
“Don’t risk it all for a hot take!” Sanders advised in a quote tweet of a Dem Communication Advisor who said, “Folks….keep it in your drafts. Signed, Comms.”

Smith apologized to the Academy as he accepted an award for Best Actor, although he did not apologize directly to Rock.
