U.S. House Rep Ilhan Omar (D-MN) complained in a tweet yesterday that she felt Republicans were only trying to obstruct legislation that Democrats wanted to pass rather than trying to find a compromise.
In a tweet on Monday, Omar shared an article about the filibuster that claimed it had a “racist past and present.”
“The filibuster is not in the Constitution. It was the tool used by segregationists to uphold segregation. And it needs to be abolished,” Omar insisted.

In another tweet, she backed up U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who said that Democrats “should ignore” the parliamentarian’s ruling on minimum wage and that Democrats must make it happen.
Omar stated that “This is important” and then suggested that “You only need 41 Democratic Senators to agree to ignore the ruling on roll call and get others on the record opposing the minimum wage.”
“Don’t allow anyone to hide behind this parliamentarian ruling and sink a wildly popular policy,” she added.

Omar followed those tweets up with the tweet yesterday where she claimed that, “You can’t look for compromise when there is no one to compromise with.”
“Republicans are only interested in obstruction and we will not solve any problems waiting to compromise with obstructionist,” she concluded.
U.S. House Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) slammed Omar today for her claims, quote tweeting the two-term Congresswoman and said, “Then don’t run on unifying the country if it’s all talk with no follow through. Just be honest that it’s your way or the highway.”

A recent Roll Call op-ed said that “For Joe Biden, unity is for Democrats only” and that “His actions so far seem more likely to widen partisan gap than repair it.”
The author noted, at his Inauguration, Biden told the country, “On this January day, my whole soul is in this: Bringing America together, uniting our people, and uniting our nation. And I ask every American to join me in this cause.”
