Many progressives on Twitter today are calling for Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to be replaced on Jan. 3rd when the House elects a new Speaker in conjunction with wanting the body of Congress to force a vote on medicare for all, a bill that currently has not been brough to the floor.
Twitter user “Katie” suggested that, “There’s no reason for a progressive to vote to confirm Pelosi as speaker again without concessions. Period. @AOC@AyannaPressley@IlhanMN@RashidaTlaib@PramilaJayapal@RoKhanna do what we elected you to do and force the vote! #ReplacePelosiJan3#ForceM4ALLVote“

We reported on Sunday that two incoming progressive members, Cori Bush (MO) and Jamaal Bowman (NY) were on the fence about voting for Pelosi.
Pelosi said today that she believes that she has it wrapped up when it comes to the upcoming vote.
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), considered leader of progressive “The Squad,” told The Intercept two weeks ago that she believes that it’s time for Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer to go.
According to that same report, if Pelosi falls short of the required 218 votes, it would then throw the contest back to the caucus.
Ocasio-Cortez said that she didn’t want to be the Speaker yet, “The House is extraordinarily complex and I’m not ready. It can’t be me. I know that I couldn’t do that job.”
