After a freak out by the media over a quote that U.S. House Rep Thomas Massie (R-KY) tweeted yesterday, Candace Owens came to his defense by selecting him as her running mate if she ever runs for president.
Massie responded, “I’d be honored.”
In the tweet that drew the attention of the media, Massie declared, “You mustn’t question Fauci, for he is science.”
Additionally, Massie shared an image of a hand pressing down on a crowd of people, along with the quote, “To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.”
The Courier-Journal scolded Massie for having “misattributed that statement to Voltaire, as have variations of the quote that have circulated around the internet for years.”
The USA TODAY reported last year the source of the quote is actually Kevin Alfred Strom, whom the far-left SPLC (which monitors hate groups) lists as a neo-Nazi who previously founded a neo-Nazi group of his own, they noted.
Undeterred, Owens announced, “If I ever run for President I’m running with @RepThomasMassie as my Vice President.”
“Just announcing that now to give the media a head start digging up the dirt regarding how many beers he drank in high school,” Owens mocked.
Massie responded in a quote tweet, “I would be honored… and the answer is 2 beers” along with a clinking beer mugs emoji.
“I drank 2 beers in high school, even though my dad was an actual beer distributor and I worked in his warehouse as a kid,” Massie insisted.
I would be honored…
