Chris Wallace Gets the ‘Sesame Street Style’ Set Up, Hosting a Show on HBO Max to be Later Aired on CNN

Last night, we learned the fate of former Fox News anchor Chris Wallace. Wallace will be hosting a new show on HBO Max that will start this fall, and the interviews will be featured on CNN Sunday evenings. This is a similar setup to ‘Seasame Street’ which premiers on HBO Max and is later aired on PBS.

“News from #WBDUpfront >> Chris Wallace’s show will premiere on @hbomax this fall; interviews will be featured on @CNN Sunday evenings”

Wallace announced his departure from Fox News in December of 2021. He headed to CNN to host a show on the now-defunct CNN+. After hosting a show on CNN+ for less than a month, it was announced the platform was going to be shut down.

When Wallace announced he was leaving Fox News, he didn’t have anything negative to say. In April, Wallace did an interview with the ‘New York Times’, in which he enlightened everyone as to why he left Fox News after almost two decades.

Wallace told the NYT, “I’m fine with opinion: conservative opinion, liberal opinion. But when people start to question the truth, who won the 2020 election? Was January 6 an insurrection? I found that unsustainable.”

Brian Stelter who was another CNN+ host made sure to decry the failure of CNN+. In a bizarre move, he hosted a segment on the platform to make sure the public knew it was too soon to determine whether CNN+ was really a failure or not.

Stelter posed a theory in which he blamed the directional change because of the new management.

Stelter shared, “Let me try out a theory on you Matt. Which is it’s too early to know if this product if this service was a success or a failure. You’ve got all the haters today saying this thing was a failure, I don’t know if we can even ever asses that because it just simply didn’t have enough time because of the management change and direction. And at the end of the day, if you buy something you buy a giant media company, you get to do whatever you want with it. But it does mean there’s a lot of suffering for employees. And frankly disappointment among subscribers as a result.”

Sean Hannity, one of Wallace’s former coworkers had some words for the news of Chris’s new show. “For his next trick, Chris Wallace will tank HBO Max.”

After Wallace left Fox News, ‘Fox News Sunday’ ratings increased. With this news and the failure of CNN+ time will tell if Wallace can pull in an audience on HBO Max.
