Although U.S. House Rep Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is still technically under investigation, he is calling this news a victory. A Florida developer who was charged in an alleged $25 million scheme to extort the Gaetz family is helping Gaetz’s case. Don Gaetz, Matt’s father was also wrapped up in this scandal.
Although Gaetz, who is running with the America First crowd these days, hasn’t exactly been the best America First politician over his tenure, it certainly won’t hurt him if the investigation into himself soon gets dropped. Of course, we are merely speculating, as we don’t know what will happen yet.
Gaetz has done some things in Florida that are not so Conservative, such as promote something similar to AOC’s green new deal, supported pro-amnesty Republicans, and supported homosexual adoption. But he hasn’t banged those drums as much lately. So perhaps in his quest for redemption, he will be more paleoconservative in the future than in his past.
In the meantime, people will just have to wait for the feds to wrap up this investigation…

The Hill reported in part:
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida announced Tuesday that 62-year-old Stephen Alford, who was previously convicted of federal fraud charges in a separate case, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on counts of wire fraud and the attempted prevention of an electronic device’s seizure.
According to an indictment unsealed Tuesday, Alford between March and April of this year allegedly took part in a complex scheme called “Project Homecoming,” in which the Fort Walton Beach man claimed that his “‘team had been assured by the President’ that he will ‘strongly consider’ a ‘Presidential Pardon’ or ‘instruct the Department of Justice to terminate any and all investigations involving’” an individual, identified in reports as Gaetz.
Federal prosecutors noted that the money gathered from the alleged extortion scheme was meant to be used to help rescue Robert Levinson, a former FBI agent who disappeared in Iran in 2007.
Gaetz touted the federal charges against Alford and blasted the alleged scheme on Twitter, asserting, “I’ve been proven right. They tried to extort me on a pile of lies.”
Gaetz has been associating with U.S. House Rep Paul Gosar (R-AZ) lately, among others, touting themselves as the real American First candidates and politicians. Although Gaetz is a little different, he is smart to choose that crowd if that is the image he wants to represent going forward. It will take time for him to rebuild his reputation, depending on what exactly he wants his reputation to be.
Meanwhile, Gaetz’s acquaintance, Florida Republican State Rep Anthony Sabatini, is also a rising star, touting a recent endorsement for U.S. Congress from Gosar himself. Time will tell how these circles end up and how the investigation related to Gaetz pans out here. Gosar has been posting popular zoomer memes on Twitter and gaining popularity himself, which increases his influence with right-wingers looking for the next leaders in the wake of Trump. This is assuming Trump doesn’t run and win in 2024, which he very well could.

Gaetz also recently touted support for heavily banned podcaster Nick Fuentes, saying he doesn’t agree with everything Fuentes says, but that he doesn’t feel Fuentes should be on a no-fly list for simply being a political dissident.
“I don’t agree with Nick Fuentes’ politics, but I’ve seen enough to know that if we aren’t judging people by their actions and create a new class of Thought Crimes, it won’t be long before we’re all labeled and banished for one reason or another.” Of course, it’s possible that he does in fact agree with much of what Fuentes says but simply doesn’t want to get banned from social media as well.

Gosar recently hat tipped many in his support circle:
“Imagine having @joekent16jan19 @DanielsCongress @AnthonySabatini joining me, @mtgreenee @mattgaetz @RepAndyBiggsAZ and others. Force multipliers.”
