Country Megastar Toby Keith, Who Played at Trump’s Inauguration, Announces Cancer Diagnosis: ‘So Far, So Good’

Country megastar Toby Keith, who played at Donald Trump’s 2017 inauguration, announced today that he had been diagnosed with stomach cancer and is currently recovering.

Keith said in a statement, “Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax.”

“I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait,” Keith added.

In May, Keith hosted The 18th annual Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic in Oklahoma City and Norman, Oklahoma to benefit children at The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center.

Keith also performed over Memorial Day weekend at the Heroes Honor Festival at Daytona International Speedway in May as well.

However, the Ohio State Fair tweeted after the announcement that Keith wasn’t going to be able to make a scheduled performance in July at that event.

“Our hearts go out to Toby Keith as he courageously battles cancer. Tickets purchased from Ticketmaster for his #ohiostatefair show on July 28, which has been cancelled, will be automatically refunded. Any information about an alternate concert on July 28 is forthcoming.”

According to Keith’s website, he is scheduled to perform twice this upcoming weekend and has other dates scheduled prior to the fair.

In a video that was shared in a June 2 tweet by Ribfest, Keith promised to see fans at his next performance at the event and that it would be a “party.”

“Let’s party with @tobykeith at Ribfest June 17th at the DuPage Event Center and Fairgrounds.”
