Delaware Democrat Lawmaker Busted Shoplifting Twice Amid Nation Wide Crime Spree, Arrested after Announcing Resignation

Delaware state Rep. Gerald Brady (D) has announced that he is going to be resigning after he was caught shoplifting twice. He says his PTSD is the reason for his leaving, he made no mention of the criminal charges against him.

Brady served in the Delaware Army National Gaurd during a few decades of the conflicts in the middle east. Brady has served in his position for the last sixteen years.

Brady was caught shoplifting from an ACME store in New Jersey on two separate occasions.

The employee that called the police, had recorded his license plate number and took a picture of him which helped the police identify him. The police issued a warrant for his arrest and Brady turned himself in.

Brady was officially arrested on Tuesday. Brady was released on a personal recognizance bond soon after. Though the police have not released any specific details on what was stolen, in both incidents the value of the stolen goods was under 200 dollars. He has been charged with two counts of misdemeanor shoplifting.

Previously there have been calls for Brady to resign after an email he meant to send to his friend was revealed to contain sexist and racist remarks against Asian women. Though no formal repercussions were brought against him, he did issue an apology through his spokesperson.

This comes as crime is soaring across the country in liberal ran cities, with changes to what district attorneys will charge and some cities eliminating cash bail, for some charges in the name of equity.

Some are speculating that his resignation was due to the email he sent out last year, this may be in part the case but it seems that the combination of both the shoplifting and the inappropriate email is what has pushed him to resign.
