Dem Texas Rep Brags About Being a ‘Fugitive’ as Abbott Says Absent Legislators Will be Arrested After They Played Hooky to Stop Voter Integrity Bills

The Texas House and Texas Republicans have voted to send law enforcement after Democrat Reps who are playing hooky from their post upon their return.

Dem Rep Gene Wu is documenting his trip with many photos and videos on his Twitter account. He and others seem to think this is a joke.

“My fist meal as a fugitive. Delicious.” he said, with a picture of a Coke Zero and what appears to be a Ceasar salad. He went on to deflect and project and appears to admitting to a crime:

“Now I have an idea what AG Ken Paxton must feel like every day… it’s not bad. No wonder he keeps committing more crimes.”

Governor Abbott spoke on the matter:

“As soon as they come back in the state of Texas, they will be arrested, they will be cabined inside the Texas Capitol until they get their job done,” said Texas governor on @KVUE.

Chris Ekstrom and Jeff Cason tweeted out that Democrats should lose their leadership roles, and that they never should have had them in so many words:

Here’s one of the Democrats, Rep James Talarico, taking his job of serving the people as a joke:

“My Democratic colleagues and I are leaving the state to break quorum and kill the Texas voter suppression bill. We’re flying to DC to demand Congress pass the For The People Act and save our democracy. Good trouble. #txlege

Democrats don’t want Republicans to pass voter integrity bills. That is why they are playing hookey. And for publicity potentially as well. They don’t want there to be a quorum in the Texas state legislature for Republicans to pass any legislation. We will update this story if anyone actually gets arrested.
