New Jersey’s political power structure is in upheaval. Sheila Oliver, the Lt. Gov of New Jersey has passed away at 71. Democrat Governor Phil Murphy is out of the state. This leaves no one at the wheel to some degree.
The state Senate president is supposed to act as temporary governor in a situation like this although it’s unclear if that’s going to happen yet. This is a break it’s new development and may be updated soon with more details.

The Governor’s office released a statement:
“Tammy and I, and our children, are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of our dear friend, colleague, and partner in government, @LtGovOliver. We ask that you all keep the Oliver family and all those who loved her in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
