Donald Trump Implies He’s Not Interested in GOP Primary Debates Because He’s Polling so Well and to Avoid Angry Hostile Networks

Nikki Haley, Asa Hutchinson, Larry Elder, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Perry Johnson have all declared they are running against Donald Trump in the GOP primary for the 2024 presidential race. Many others are undeclared, including Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

The DNC currently has not scheduled any primary debates. Former President Donald Trump has taken notice. Trump feels he is leading the pack, with most primary polls showing him ahead of declared and even undeclared primary Republican contenders.

For this reason and more, he feels there should maybe not be GOP debates either according to a recent Truth Social post. Trump said:

“I see that everybody is talking about the Republican Debates, but nobody got my approval, or the approval of the Trump Campaign, before announcing them. When you’re leading by seemingly insurmountable numbers, and you have hostile Networks with angry, TRUMP & MAGA hating anchors asking the “questions,” why subject yourself to being libeled and abused? Also, the Second Debate is being held at the Reagan Library, the Chairman of which is, amazingly, Fred Ryan, Publisher of The Washington Post. NO!”

Joe Biden recently made his re-election campaign official, and it appears the Democrats may not have debates. Many are unhappy with that possibility looming. Donald Trump responded to Biden’s recent announcement in a video recently as well.

Trump implied that Biden’s damage so far has been worse than the five previous worst presidents combined. Time will tell what comes of the GOP and DNC debates as the political world continues to be the topic at everyone’s dinner table around the nation right now, for various different reasons.

It seems Trump feels debates would be a way for the media to be proverbially knives out for him, particularly now with Tucker Carlson no longer at Fox News, and possibly more firings on the way. Additionally, GOP primary debates this cycle may give more publicity to others that Trump may feel doesn’t help with his run.

Although Ron DeSantis hasn’t announced, it’s clear that a debate stage would help him propel his national name brand in such a way that doesn’t directly help Trump. Some may think a primary would help Trump sort out a possible Vice President pick, but he clearly isn’t overly concerned on that front.

Speaking of publicity, Trump has not had as much as he maybe could get if he were to take advantage of his newly restored Twitter account. Many think he’s waiting for a particular legal obligation via Truth Social to run out before he does, but it’s unclear for sure what his plans are to return to Twitter, a place which would be far more friendly to him now than it has been in the past under Elon Musk’s ownership.
