As first reported by Fox News, following devastating tornados in western Kentucky that left at least 70 people dead, liberals on Twitter, including politicians and celebrities, pointed the finger at Republicans, specifically GOP Sen Rand Paul.
U.S. House Rep Eric Swalwell (D-CA), as an elected official, is a particularly egregrious example of exploiting the tragedy.
Swalwell quote tweeted a heartfelt tweet from Paul where he had said, “Our hearts are broken for all those suffering from last night’s terrible storms.”
“I and my team will do all we can to assist local and state officials as they lead the immediate response, and will aggressively help families, businesses, and officials access recovery resources,” Paul added.
Swalwell responded with a statement of sympathy in part of the quote tweet where he said, “We should do all we can to help our Kentucky neighbors. God be with them — they are hurting.”
“But do not for one second forget that @RandPaul has voted against helping most Americans most times they’re in need,” Swalwell insisted in the other part.

Swalwell wasn’t alone as former ESPN host Jemele Hill encouraged Democrats to use the tornado as an opportunity to damage Paul politically.
“We know @RandPaul is a heartless hypocrite. The people in Kentucky deserve the relief regardless of their buffoonish leadership, but if the Dems don’t use this against him and his party in the future, it is a missed opportunity,” Hill suggested.

Former writer and producer for Late Night With David Letterman, Noel Scovell, also blamed Paul as well as fellow KY GOP Sen Mitch McConnell in a now deleted tweet that also suggested climate change was to blame for the tragedy.
Scovell lamented, “Sorry Kentucky. Maybe if your 2 senators hadn’t spent decades blocking legislation to reduce climate change, you wouldn’t be suffering from climate disasters. If it’s any consolation, McConnell and Rand have f’ed over all of us, too.”
Although, Scovell deleted the tweet, she has continued to defend her positions on the situation and attempted to beat back criticism.
