Today on ABC News’ “This week,” Anthony Fauci admitted that the “goal” of a vaccine mandate for flights would be a “mechanism” to get people vaccinated rather than safety.
In a clip shared by Twitter user “Jewish Deplorable,” Fauci began, “A vaccine requirement for a person getting on a plane is just another level of getting people to have a mechanism that would spur them to get vaccinated.”
“Mainly you can’t get on a plane unless you’re vaccinated, which is just another one of the ways of getting requirements, whatever that might be,” Fauci insisted.
Ignoring the freedom aspect of it, Fauci continued, “So I mean, anything that could get people more vaccinated would be welcome.”
Fauci then admitted, “But with the regard to the spread of virus in the country, I mean I think if you look at wearing a mask and the filtration on planes, things are reasonably safe.”
“We want to make sure people keep their masks on, I think the idea of taking masks off, in my mind, is really not something we should even be considering,” Fauci declared.
Fauci concluded in the clip, “That’s what we meant by the goal of getting people vaccinated before they get on a domestic flight.”
Fauci says vaccine mandates for domestic travel won’t make flights safer, but he supports it anyway:

This isn’t the first time that Fauci has discussed the possibility of vaccine mandates for air travel.
In September, Fauci told the Washington Post, “It’s on the table. We haven’t decided yet,b ut if the president said, ‘You know, let’s go ahead and do it,’ I would be supportive of it.”
