It was announced today that judges in Pennsylvania and North Carolina handed down new congressional maps that were in stark contrast to ones that were passed by Republican-controlled legislatures in the states.
Arizona GOP State Sen Wendy Rogers laid the blame for the failures at the feet of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
“Kevin McCarthy is losing the redistricting battle because he is a WEAK leader who gets zero respect,” Rogers declared.
Rogers added, “He has failed at this critical time in our nation’s history.”

Chris Christie, a co-chair of the National Republican Redistricting Trust, said of the situation, “We allowed Barack Obama and Eric Holder to outmaneuver the Republican committees in those states and the RNC.”
“And we can’t take for granted these Supreme Court elections and what impact they can have on the maps that are going to rule the country from a congressional perspective for the next decade,” Christie explained.
Dem lawyer Marc Elias took a victory lap in a tweet where he said, “This ignores the fact that the Ohio Supreme Court is 4-3 Republican.”
“It also doesn’t explain GOP losses in other states and in federal court. The GOP has not won a single congressional redistricting case anywhere in the country,” Elias taunted.

Redistricting expert Dave Wasserman said of the lamenting, “The GOP’s redistricting autopsy already underway – a strange place to be given Rs remain favorites for House control this fall.”

While Republicans are the favorites still to win the House in 2022, if Democrats are able to get the votes again as they did in 2020, it would undoubtedly swing back in their favor and even more so than it is right now.
