House Freedom Caucus chairman Andy Biggs, is one of the most vocal GOP lawmakers calling for an aggressive exit strategy. He has expressed those views publicly as well as in numerous texts and phone calls to the White House and GOP leadership.
Of lifting the lockdowns, he said “It should have happened yesterday. I’m trying to use every bully pulpit I can to make my case.”
Biggs spoke with radio host Larry O’Connor, saying that there must be “a balanced approached.” He said the “impacts must be addressed.” He believes “the most vulnerable” can be protected while “immediately reopening.”
The economic & societal impacts from America’s response to the coronavirus pandemic must be addressed. We can protect the most vulnerable in our society while immediately reopening the economy & upholding our liberties. We must have a balanced approach.

On another radio show, he said that “we can’t afford to wait two more weeks.” He continued, “20 million Americans out of work. Thousands of small businesses may be permanently closed.” Many businesses have already announced they won’t reopen.

This week, we will likely have over 20 million Americans out of work.
Thousands of small businesses may be permanently closed.
Are we thinking about the lives of these people? https://t.co/wrJMdSqr7Y
On Monday, Biggs said about Dr. Fauci “I mean, he has said he has not considered economic or societal or social fallout for his remedy for the epidemic. And if that’s the case, I think he gets some credit for where we stand today, but I think it’s time for him to move on.”
“I mean, he shouldn’t have a seat at the table. He shouldn’t be making decisions that are basically impacting this country in a way that we haven’t even considered.”
