In an interview that aired today on ABC’s “This Week,” Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott predicted “total chaos” at the southern border if Title 42 is lifted.
The Biden administration was ordered by a federal judge last month to halt the use of Title 42 and gave officials five weeks to phase out the use of the policy.
That means that Wednesday is scheduled to be the final day for the restrictions unless the courts intervene as Abbott suggested.
Abbott insisted, “If the courts do not intervene and put a halt to the removal of Title 42, it’s going to be total chaos.”

During the segment, ACLU lawyer Lee Gelernt called the Republican position on Title 42 “hypocritical” and that they “want to close the border.”
Co-anchor Martha Raddatz then editorialized that “closing the border is not working, despite fences, walls, and thousands of armed national guard, they keep coming.”
Of course, Raddatz didn’t mention how Joe Biden torpedoed the completion of the border wall on his first day in office.
With things already out of control, El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser declared a state of emergency yesterday in response to the worsening illegal immigrant crisis.
Scores of illegal immigrants have been sleeping on the city’s streets in recent days as temperatures dipped below freezing, which caused Leeser to take action.
