Hollywood legend Mark Wahlberg recently discussed in an interview his decision to move to swing state Nevada.
Wahlberg appeared to take some shots at California’s Dem Gov. Gavin Newsom as he said that he had moved to the golden state “many years ago to pursue acting and I’ve only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there.”
“So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense for us,” Wahlberg explained.
Wahlberg also appeared to be looking forward to the possibility of a Republican governor taking over in November in Nevada.
“I moved to Nevada where after this gubernatorial election, hopefully it will go to legislation and get a bill passed so we can get tax credit for the state — build a state-of-the-art studio here and make this Hollywood 2.0. I want to be able to work from home,” Wahlberg stressed.
Former Republican Gov. Nathan Deal helped to make Georgia into a mecca for filmmakers by getting tax credits passed in that state.
Currently, Republican candidate Joe Lombardo appears to have the upper hand in the Nevada governor’s race.
A recent poll showed Lombardo with 44%, putting him 1 point ahead of Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak, at 43%.
Wahlberg has said in the past that celebrities should stay out of politics as he pointed out that “Both Republicans and Democrats buy movie tickets.”
