In 4th of July Op-Ed, Mitt Romney Warns Against a ‘Return’ of Trump While Calling Biden A ‘Genuinely Good Man’

In a 4th of July Op-ed published today in The Atlantic, U.S. Sen Mitt Romney (R-UT) warned against a “return” of the 45th President Donald Trump while calling Joe Biden a “genuinely good man.”

Romney claimed that Trump’s return to office would feed into the “national malady of denial, deceit, and distrust” that the senator said Biden has not been able to break through.

In an apparent attempt to appear bipartisan, however, Romney said that many Americans on both sides of the aisle are continuing to dismiss various threats against the country, including inflation, global climate change, illegal immigration, and water insecurity in the West.

Romney also cited the reactions of “MAGA loyalists” to the recent congressional hearings on Jan. 6 as another such example of Americans’ denial in another shot at the former president.

“If we continue to ignore the real threats we face, America will inevitably suffer serious consequences,” Romney insisted.

Romney suggested that “President Joe Biden is a genuinely good man, but he has yet been unable to break through our national malady of denial, deceit, and distrust. A return of Donald Trump would feed the sickness, probably rendering it incurable.”

Leftists on Twitter were not impressed by Romney’s column, however, and lashed out at him anyway.

LGTBQ activist Amy Siskind tweeted, “Mitt Romney, who has had every chance to vote along with the Democrats in majority to address the very things he whines about, chose almost w/out exception to fall in line with Moscow Mitch to halt gov’t.”

“Unlike us, he is in a position to do something, rather than write op-eds,” Siskind pointed out.

“Resister” David Howard declared that, “Mitt Romney is in denial – wants to both sides it when it is his GOP that is attacking our democratic institutions, our voting rights + women’s rights, that is denying efforts to address climate change, that fostered the gun nuts based on an erroneous reading of 2nd. See Big Lie.”

A BLM supporting granny told Romney, “It’s not Biden’s job to break through. It’s the Republicans job. Y’all broke democracy. You fix it.”
