After U.S. House Rep Cori Bush (D-MO) insisted that she should be provided with private security to do her job, which she believes is to pass legislation to defund the police, Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked White House press secretary Jen Psaki about the comments at the daily press briefing today.
After prefacing his question with some of Bush’s comments, Doocy asked, “Didn’t President Biden say a few weeks ago that anybody who accuses the party of being anti-police is lying?”
Psaki responded by suggesting that the focus should be on the fact that Bush claimed that her life was threatened and that she had no comment on “their security arrangements.”
“I will say, that the president has been crystal clear that he opposes defunding the police,” Psaki noted, shifting to Doocy’s question.
“There may be some in the Democratic Party, including Congresswoman Bush who disagree with him,” Psaki then explained.
“That’s okay,” Psaki continued before insisting, “but I would say the majority of Democrats also agree that we should not defund the police.”
U.S. Sen Tom Cotton (R-AR) was unconvinced as he quote tweeted a video shared by the Daily Caller and said, “The Democrats in charge of the party want to defund the police. President Biden takes orders from @CoriBush.”

Earlier, we reported:
In a rant that is sure to make mainstream Democrats nervous, U.S. House Rep Cori Bush (D-MO) defended having private security due to “attempts” on her life, but still wants to defund the police.
In a clip tweeted by NRCC communications director Mike Berg, Bush tells CBS viewers, “I’m going to make sure I have security because, I know, I have had attempts on my life and I have too much work to do.”
“There are too many people that need help right now for me to allow that, so if I end up spending $200,000, if I spend 10 more dollars on it, you know what, I get to be here to do the work,” Bush continued.
Bush then demanded of her critics, “So suck it up and defunding the police has to happen. We need to defund the police and put that money into social safety nets.”
