The House of Representatives is set to vote today on legislation preventing any further changes at the United States Postal Service and providing $25 billion in funding ahead of an expected surge in mail-in ballots in the November election.
Jim Jordan went on Fox News and told anchor Neil Cavuto, ‘This isn’t about the postal service, this is about politics.” Jordan believes that if there is a mass voting by mail, it will delay the results of the election.

He gave the example of the sponsor of the legislation, Carolyn Maloney, and how it took 6 weeks after her primary for a winner to be declared. Cavuto pressed him though and asked if President Trump was attempting to “stymie the process instead of enhance it.”
Jordan vehemently disagreed and said that when Postmaster General Louis DeJoy was going to testify on Monday, he expected them to treat him the same way they treated AG Bill Barr.
The Republican-led Senate is unlikely to approve the bill if it was “only addressing the Postal Service.” The White House called it an “overreaction to sensationalized media reports” and said yesterday Trump would veto the bill. Jordan said that even during the Obama administration they reshuffled things within the post office.
Democrats claim the U.S. Postal Service officials have unusually ordered the removal of mail-sorting machines, cut overtime for mail carriers, and made other changes.
Critics believe that is the only cause of a delay in the delivery of prescription medicines and other items for veterans, seniors and other Americans who rely on the mail service as a lifeline.
