U.S. House Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH) appeared on Sunday Morning Futures today with Maria Bartiromo to discuss the victory yesterday by former President Trump at the Senate impeachment trial and discuss the plans for the future.
In a clip that he shared on Twitter, Jordan began by saying that it is “Great news for the country… remember what the Democrats were trying to do Maria, they were trying to cancel the guy that 74 million Americans voted for because they didn’t want him to have a chance to be on the ballot in 2024.”
“They were so obsessed with this, going after the president, that they were willing to ignore the Constitution, willing to ignore due process, willing to ignore the facts, willing to doctor evidence, and willing to at the last minute try to call witnesses when that made absolutely no sense to do so,” Jordan continued.
Jordan concluded, “So this is how focused and obsessed they’ve been, so it was a good day for the country that the president was acquitted again.”
The clip then goes to another part of the interview where Jordan appears to be responding to a question about why Democrats agreed to a deal not to call witnesses.
“That’s exactly why they pulled back because our side would have called the sergeant at arms, we would have called Officer Sund, the former head of the Capitol Hill police, we would have called Speaker Pelosi because ultimately, she’s the person in charge of Capitol Hill, she’s the Speaker of the House, and she’s in charge of everything on Capitol Hill,” Jordan explained.
Jordan talked about other witnesses that would have been called and then said, “It was a great day for President Trump and a great day for the Constitution.”
