“You need to ask first” was part of a statement made to reporters shortly after a woman had an encounter with Presidential candidate Joe Biden (D). The 41-year-old preschool teacher Jessica Roman stopped Biden to ask him some questions about how he would help unions relating to her profession. Biden, while answering, quickly grabbed the woman’s hand without asking and this was captured from two different angles. Roman reportedly spoke with reporters from the Washington Examiner afterward and expressed how uncomfortable she was.
“I think that he means well but, you know, he grabbed my hands right away and that was really uncomfortable,” she told the Washington Examiner. “He was very close and, in my mind, I’m like, this is part of our problem: Not recognizing that you need to ask first, or can I shake your hand? Not just grab your hands and hang onto them. That bothers me.”

According to the Washington Examiner, the woman, Jessica Roman, is leaning towards Kamala Harris or Elizabeth Warren for her vote in the 2020 presidential Democratic primary. Biden still leads as of our latest check on the Real Clear Politics averages, but he has been steadily dropping, while Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are appearing to catch up to him. Kamala is showing to be in a distant 4th place. Questions of Biden’s health and sharpness have arisen recently as he has suffered a multitude of gaffes on the campaign trail in addition to one of his eyes filling with blood at a CNN climate change town hall earlier this week.
