Yesterday we did an expose here and here about U.S. Senator Raphael Warnock disgracing himself on Twitter during Easter with a ridiculous tweet about how people can save themselves with or without Jesus. He later deleted that tweet, after much pushback from us, Jenna Ellis, and many others.
Former Trump attorney and ally of former President Trump’s, Jenna Ellis took to Twitter to lambaste the so-called reverend for implying that Christians might not need Jesus to get to heaven. She is very much Christian herself and clearly took personal offense to the misleading tweet by Warnock.
Many of Ellis’s followers agreed with her. Joy Reid of MSNBC on the other hand, without really explaining how what Warnock said was ok, or even recognizing that he had to delete the shocking tweet, took to Twitter to bash Jenna Ellis for standing up for Jesus Christ on Easter.
The tweet in question, which is now deleted, can be seen below and originally said:
“The meaning of Easter is more transcenent than the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Whether you are a Christian or not, through a commitment to helping others we are able to save ourselves.” See the Media Right News File screenshot below:
Among other tweets floating around, the two below mostly describe the back and forth between the two women. After Ellis initially slammed Warnock’s Easter message, Reid took to attacking her, and it went on from there.
Ellis said of Warnock:
“This is a false gospel and heresy. We cannot save ourselves. The absolute truth and only meaning of Easter that matters is the literal, physical resurrection of Jesus Christ, and we must accept Him as Lord and Savior. Read Romans, “Reverend” Warnock. You are a false teacher.” to which Reid responded:
“This lady is literally calling the pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church — The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s church — a heretic. This actually happened today. Madame, I’m gonna take @ReverendWarnock‘s take, as a pastor and a scholar on the Word over yours, if you don’t mind.”

Ellis then circled the wagons after mistakenly thinking Reid had deleted one of her own tweets about the fiasco and Reid correcting her:
“Leftists who don’t even pretend to be Christians (like @JoyAnnReid and @mehdirhasan) defend Warnock’s heresy just because he’s a Dem. They intentionally confuse supporting Trump w/ worshipping Trump because their god and idol is government. Jesus is the only true Lord & Savior.
This is also why it’s VERY important for Christians not to just defend anything and everything a Republican says or does just because they’re Republicans. We aren’t like Dems. Truth is our standard, not party fealty. We do not worship government. We worship God alone.”

Truth is our standard, not party fealty.
We do not worship government. We worship God alone.
Just before the last couple of tweets was the little bit of confusion:

Then Reid thanked one of her friends who stepped in and helped her with her (in our view) bad faith argument. She appeared to be glad he was assisting with her attack on Ellis by insulting her and then seemingly congratulated him on being a proud non-Christian. Reid tells Mehdi Hasan, who told Ellis to “stick to traffic law”:
“As a Christian, and a friend of yours, I can honestly say you are doing an excellent job of not even pretending to also be a Christian. Also, who knew we’d get to debate heresy in the 21st century with specialists in… in… ok not sure what… But quite a fascinating Easter!”

Then later, Reid retweeted someone else’s tweet in agreement to it, in essence hypocritically agreeing with the tweet that people spend too much time on Twitter looking for things to be mad about. This was directly after Reid herself spent a good amount of energy being mad at Ellis on Twitter.
“Good question …” Reid said to a tweet that said “Has Twitter fostered an addiction to offense and outrage or is it just satisfying a demand that was always there?”
Good question … https://t.co/ehBY926Jhb

This bizarre back and forth highlights the stark divide between the left and the right. Although many Democrats such as President Joe Biden claim to be believers in the Bible, many question how that can be since the Democrat party is pro-abortion, and so many other things that could be considered antithetical.
This isn’t to say the GOP is perfect either. We are all indeed sinners and if we believe in Christianity, can only be saved by admitting our sins and asking for forgiveness.
