Judge Bruce Schroeder dismissed a misdemeanor gun charge, possession of a dangerous weapon, against Kyle Rittenhouse during the trial today after some discussion as to whether it could be considered or not.
Breaking 911 reported: “BREAKING: Judge dismisses the gun charge against Rittenhouse, the possession of a dangerous weapon by a person younger than 18, has been dismissed. #Rittenhouse now faces 5 charges.”

Fox News had previously reported that Schroeder previously said that he had “spent hours” with the Wisconsin gun law and could not state with certainty what it means in this case.
The purported unlawful possession of the gun has been a prominent fact cited not only by the prosecutors but the press.
A Facebook post made 2 days after the shootings last year stated that “At 17 years old Kyle (Rittenhouse) was perfectly legal to be able to possess that rifle without parental supervision.”
In a fact check, Politifact rated that claim “false” at the time, explaining that state laws suggested he couldn’t.
