It was reported by POLITICO today that U.S. House Rep Liz Cheney (R-WY) raised a record amount of money for her campaign in the most recent quarter.
Cheney’s campaign is prepared to announce that it raised what POLITICO described as an “eye-popping” $2.94M in the first quarter of this year.
As POLITICO noted, Cheney used to only raise a couple hundred thousand dollars at most from Wyoming residents, so it would seem that her political calculation against the 45th President Donald Trump is paying off big for her.
It would be assumed that many of the donors are Democrats, as she has received much of the money from states with large wealthy Democrat bases.
Fox News’ Laura Ingraham shared the POLITICO article in a tweet and declared, “The elites rush in to try to save Cheney.”

Cheney appeared on CNN’s “State of the Union” yesterday and it is likely that appearances like that are helping to contribute to her haul.
Top behind-the-scenes Democrat Jon Cooper celebrated the news by declaring in a tweet, “BREAKING: Liz Cheney STUNS Republican critics by revealing she raised an eye-popping $10 million for her reelection campaign, reaffirming the strength of her anti-Trump stance.”

Trump-endorsed primary challenger Harriet Hageman set a record of her own as her campaign announced that she raised over $1.3M for the quarter.
In a statement, Hageman said, “It is an honor to have such support and I pledge to always reflect the views and values of the people of Wyoming when I am in Congress. This is Wyoming’s seat in the House, not one individual’s.”
Hageman recently beat Cheney in a Wyoming Republican state central committee straw poll by a lopsided 59-to-6 margin, but the incumbent is likely banking on crossover votes from Democrats in the August primary.
